SHERFIELD 0 OVERTON UNITED "A" 1. On the heavy pitch at Sherfield neither side could string more than three passes together, hence a very scrappy game throughout. Never the less the three points picked up by Lee McCann's United keeps them top of the table and a step closer to assuring at least promotion this season. It was a lone goal from Peter Amps that settled this top of the table clash. The 47 years old Phil Wheeler was in great form at the back and played through to Amps who went round the keeper to give them the lead in the first half. Sherfield were without their strike force of Haddock unavailable and Chandler half fit and on the bench, hence their chances were limited and the best fell to Jamie Dowling following a Glen Holden corner kick and this he skied over the bar from 25 yards out. In the second half Overton always looked in control with Lee Corsan and Mal Dickins well in command at the rear. Up front Ben Woods had a chance and fired over the bar and Matt Armstrong had an open goal at his mercy and delayed his shot giving Dowling his chance to get back and clear off the line. HERRIARD SPORTS 1 SHERBORNE ST JOHN 5. "Saints" kept the pressure on the leaders with this comfortable away win, remaining five points behind with a match in hand. Matt Livingstone is now finding his form of last season and gave his side the lead after seven minutes play. In the 15th minute they were gifted the second when a poor back pass from Tristan Roberts fell short and Kevin Bicknell took full advantage. Herriard hit back with a goal in the 22nd minute. Craig Farrington with the corner kick and James Tarrant ghosted in at the far post to net and Lee Donkin had he been at his best could have completed a hat trick. It was however Sherborne who extended their lead before the break with another from Bicknell who beat the offside trap. Even though kicking against the wind in the second half Herriard held out until the 80th minute when James Flynn made it 4-1 and in the last couple of minutes Livingstone beat outfield player Matthew Learoyd, who again had to take the goalkeepers jersey.
