The Old Post Office in Tunworth
The Old Post Office in Tunworth

A FIRST-CLASS country cottage is being mailed out as Strutt & Parker post up the marketing of a character home in a rural setting.

The selling agents describe The Old Post Office at Tunworth as as an "enchanting" cottage and have issued a guide price of £695,000.

Tunworth is one of Hampshire's best-kept secrets and is tucked away down a narrow country lane in the rolling countryside between the village of Mapledurwell and Upton Grey.

Chris Nicklin, of Strutt & Parker in Odiham, said: "The availability of The Old Post Office represents an exceptionally rare opportunity and, according to our records, is the first property to be sold in Tunworth since 2004."

The semi-detached post office has been extended in keeping with its original character, which includes exposed timbers, an inglenook fireplace with a bread oven in the sitting room and an old brick floor in the study.

Wood-fronted units, with granite work surfaces, set around a butler sink and a Rayburn boiler create a country-style kitchen-breakfast room, which has French doors out to a brick patio overlooking the garden.

The cottage also has a dining room and a ground-floor shower room, while the first-floor accommodation offers three bedrooms, all with countryside views, a box room that could be a nursery and a refitted family bathroom.

The pretty cottage garden has been landscaped with brick pathways and includes a vegetable plot with raised beds and an adjoining Victorian-style greenhouse.

An oak-framed barn-style double garage comes with an adjoining workshop and two flexi rooms above.

"A charming character cottage in an unspoilt rural village with outstanding country views," says the agent.
