News from the Pews July 21

THE St Mary's Festival, in Old Basing, took place from July 10 to 13, and, as usual, there was an art exhibition, consisting of 82 pictures and 18 items of ceramics and sculpture.

The pictures were in various media - watercolours, oils, pastel, acrylic and gouache.

The subjects were varied, ranging from goldfish to St Mary's Church.

There was an amazing amount of artistic talent among the exhibitors, and it was due to the organisation of the event by Brenda Chapman that it was, once again, very successful.

THE total raised in Hartley Wintney and the local area for Christian Aid was £3,741 - an excellent effort.

JUST a reminder of the coffee morning being held at Oakley Methodist Church every Tuesday, from 10am to noon, where bottomless cups of tea or coffee with biscuits are available. The cost is 50p and everyone is welcome.

Christian Aid Week, in Oakley, raised £3,750 - an excellent effort. Thanks to all those who contributed in any way.

ROADS in Tadley and Pamber Heath being prayed for this week are Sandy Lane, Sarisbury Close, Saunders Gardens, Tadley; and Burney Bit, Pamber Heath.
