News from the Pews June 23
THE next summer youth service at the United Reformed Church, Basingstoke, is on Sunday, June 29, at 10.30am, with the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.
The theme this time is "The Person Inside".
THE Kingsclere Singers recently gave a very successful concert at St Mary's, Overton, entitled "Out of Africa", which was a musical evening with an African flavour.
They were supported by the Pan Everest Steel Band, which was formed in 2001 by pupils of Everest Community College.
The proceeds were divided between the host church and two African charities, Mityana Water project and Cecily's Fund, which enables Zambian orphans with Aids to go to school. More than £200 was raised for each of these charities.
The next performance in the church will be on Friday, September 26.
THERE will be an Independence Day Breakfast at Christ Church, Chineham, on Saturday, July 5, between 9am and 10am. This will be an American-style breakfast.
The cost is £4, under-sevens £2.
This is to raise funds for the church mission trip to Moldova.
For more details, ring the church office, from Monday to Thursday, between 9.30am and 2.30pm, on 01256 474980.
ROADS in Tadley and Pamber Heath being prayed for this week are Reubens Crescent, Reynards Close and Rimes Lane, Tadley; and Wakeford Close, Pamber Heath.
