Bramley

FLORAL society: The 30th anniversary was celebrated in style on July 4, when around 75 members and supporters met at Bramley Village Hall.

Chairman Sibyl Wood gave a warm welcome, and Carole Dorward demonstrated on the theme "Take the Rough with the Smooth", explaining that this was for the contrast of textures she would use.

She first gave a birthday greeting with a huge cocktail glass filled with tall stems and dark red roses. Smooth silver bowls, black metal and a charred branch were her contrasting containers with a variety of greenery, sunflowers, roses, gladioli and gerberas.

Ilene Lomas gave the vote of thanks. A buffet supper followed and a special cake was cut by Doreen Tosswill, one of the founder members of the Bramley and Romans Floral Society.

BRAMLEY Lunch Club: Will meet on August 6, at 11.30am, in the village hall.

For transport arrangements and information about joining the club, call 01256 881509.

BOOK sale: The annual book sale in aid of the RNLI will be held on September 20 and 21, in St John's Hall, Mortimer.

Books are wanted, so if you have any saleable hardbacks and paperbacks, children's books, CDs and DVDs, call Sibyl Wood, on 01256 881182.

BRAMLEY Show: You should now have a copy of the 2008 schedule and made a diary note for August 23. Encourage your friends to enter, even if they do not live in Bramley.
