Cliddesden

SCRAPYARD: Following on from last week's piece about the Environmental Agency scrapyard complaint number of 0800 807 060, I understand from a resident who called at 5.45am, having been woken by lorry traffic and, again, the next day, at 1pm, because of the excessive noise, that the line is fully staffed and that it welcomes as many calls as needed, any time of day or night.

So don't be afraid of calling that number, whatever the time or circumstances.

Only by doing so can a picture be built up of the nuisance being caused.

UFO: Unidentified Flying Objects at Cliddesden?

Sheila Trown produced a picture she had taken a little while ago of a pigeon sitting on one of her hedges.

Now, a pigeon is not a UFO, but clearly showing in the field behind are two flying saucers, complete with antennae and superstructure, neatly parked side by side.

When she saw the picture on the camera she looked out but they had gone.

Now I know that Cliddesden is the centre of the universe, but are aliens really so interested in the village?

3CG: This year's tree planting by 3CG is likely to fill in areas on the approach to the village from the Alton road.

It had been hoped to plant along the Southlea track, but this has not proved possible for this year.
