Dispite all the objections voiced to the TVBC the application will still be given as the council just doesnt care. we dont need more restaurants we need more shops and entertainments venues. andover is all about food now. we have so many restaurants and takeaways and no where to go...

Good luck with the application. If your company does as good a job has they have to that crummy old bank in Torquay - Devon, then it will be a pleasure to come and dine with you.
I am by no means suggesting the glorious Lower Guildhall as it stands is a crummy old run down piece of architecture!

Our self centred council is selling off our towns crown jewels because they can but i bet they wont stop tesco's building their megashed. they are useless, people should get off their backsides at election time and vote them out.

Good luck with the application. Andover is one of the few towns that seems to be 'on the up' and Prezzo will be a welcome addition. It will also be nice for the building to be available for everybody's use. At the moment it does not serve the community very well at all.quote

The Lower Guildhall as a community resource available to all, just like any other village hall is what you could truly describe as a facillity that everyone could use.

The Lower Guildhall has supported people from all walks of life for many years and provided an important and historical meeting place: it is the councils failure to promote its use that has brought about its recent under-use.

I can't imagine that the residents of Abbotts Ann or any other of the villages and towns in the Test Valley would accept readily their village/ town halls being turned over to a pizza chain, even if it did give their village hall a posh make-over!

Are you people still harping on about the blooming guildhall?!?!? The council have given you a nice new meeting place, that fulfills your requirements so what are you moaning about. And when will people get it into their heads that Prezzo is not just a pizz chain... it is a high quality authentic italian restaurant. As for 'S Andrews' comment saying there are many other food outlets in the town - I understand where you are coming from but most of them serve poor quality food with rubbish service. Here's to Prezzo opening for business - I for one will be in the queue :)

I agree that the building has not been promoted effectively by the council and I agree that nobody in the surrounding villages would want their village halls turned into a pizza chain, but neither should detract from objectively weighing up the benefits of the application.

If your average person only ate at Prezzos once a year they would go in the lower guildhall more than they currently do. It is not really a question of cost, more what would best serve the the people of Andover and the surrounding areas. In my opinion Prezzos will be a welcome addition.

Their food is really good!

yes, the whingers of Andover are harping on about something 'new' to Andover, yet again, as was the whingers of Andover whinging about the new Asda/cinema complex, which im sure most of them have visited or used, also the tesco megashed, which most or all have shopped in the big Tesco..'they' will never be satisfied with something new to the town. i welcome it, i will dine there and i bet most of the whingers will too. hypocritical? thats the whingers for you!

Prezzo is a good company run with a good track record and their appearance will be of great benefit to Andover.

But they should have found somewhere else not be given the jewell in the town.

Andover Guildhall should be the headquarters of a proud Andover town council complete with its historic mayoral post restored.

Scotty, id rather have something there than what has been there the past few years, which was nothing. a meeting, book sale or tea and cakes once a week just isnt enough, what a waste, it should have been allowed to stay open for functions/wedding receptions, but it wasnt. so, now Andover has Prezzo and you and the rest of Andover can watch it thrive with business!

There are so many empty shops that I am surprised that they chose the Guildhall. I would love something to go in the Guildhall but why can't Andover fill the empty shops to bring people into Andover to enjoy Prezzos?
