LEILA Warwick retained her women's singles title at the annual Basingstoke and District Tennis League individual finals day at Old Basing Tennis Club.
The defending champion needed more than two hours to beat Odiham clubmate Leah Goldsworthy 7-5, 5-7, 7-6 in the final, with both players having opportunities to win the title.
In the men's singles final, Mark Swinscoe (Overton) took on Phil Dixon (Old Basing) after both had won their respective groups.
Some fine rallies and hard hitting made it an entertaining match, with Swinscoe going one better than last year to take the title 6-3, 6-2.
The men's doubles final saw Dixon and Rob Still (Old Basing) take on Paul Rattue and Kelvin Wilcox from Oakley.
Some excellent doubles play by both pairs led to exciting points and a close first set, but Dixon and Still proved too strong and they took the title 6-4, 6-1.
The women's doubles final pitted the experience of Judith Day and Lindsey Trotter of Preston Candover against the youth of Goldsworthy and Rachel Whiteside, of Totally Tennis.
In a match of several long rallies, both teams had opportunities to take the title. But the result was finally decided in a third-set tie-break, which saw Goldsworthy and Whiteside win the title 2-6, 7-5, 7-6.
The final match of the day was the mixed doubles, pitting defending champions Dave Burrell and Jenny Rust, of BDH, against Paul Rattue and Paula Wiseman, of Goodworth Clatford.
Another close first set went to Burrell and Rust 6-4. The second set was more one-sided with Burrell and Rust running out 6-4, 6-1 winners to retain their title.
