Rose blown out of Open contention
JUSTIN Rose's hopes of winning The Open Championship evaporated on Saturday, the north Hampshire golfer shooting a 12-over-par round of 82 in the third round at Royal Birkdale.
The 27-year-old had a disastrous day in strong winds. While he started solidly, dropped shots at the fifth and sixth holes sparked one of the most difficult rounds of his career and he struggled just to make par after that.
Going into Sunday's final round at the Lancashire course, Rose was tied for 79th place on +18, 16 shots behind third round leader Greg Norman of Australia.
