WORLD renowned artists and local talent will share the stage at this year's Eastleigh Music Festival from July 11 to 13.
This three day spectacular of music, dance and events at Leigh Road recreation ground will feature an outstanding line-up, including Seth Lakeman, bringing world-class music to the heart of Hampshire.
Organiser Crispian Cook explains: "This year there will be two covered big tops, so that more artists can perform regardless of the vagaries of the British summer weather. With the addition of a smaller acoustic stage, there will be an opportunity to enjoy a really intimate atmosphere with some of the bands."
Seth Lakeman will headline the main stage on the Friday evening. Nominated for the prestigious Mercury Prize in 2005, Seth has since gone on to win Best Album and Singer of the Year at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. He'll be supported at Eastleigh by guitarist Nick Harper, son of the legendary UK singer/songwriter Roy Harper.
Young musicians will have a chance to showcase their talents throughout the day on Saturday with professional stage and technical support.
The main stage will reopen in the evening with rapper Lethal Bizzle. Lethal is one of the most prolific and exciting rappers to emerge from the UK underground scene. He'll be supported on the evening by electro punk duo, Robots in Disguise, who audiences will recognise from their appearances on The Mighty Boosh, plus local electro-indie band Scarlet Soho.
World music and culture feature strongly on Sunday, July 13 for the Eastleigh Mela in partnership with The Asian Welfare and Cultural Association.
This multicultural festival will feature live music and performance on two stages throughout the day including Indian classical dance, the Huckleberries, Phoenix Dancers, New Forest Meddlars, Hiltingbury junior choir, Crestwood steel band, Newe Roma, Kala the Arts, Irish dance and so much more.
There will also be a range of stalls including jewellery, henna painting, foods from all over the world and crafts. Children will be able to enjoy circus skills and many other activities including storytelling and a climbing wall. Many of the events are free.
The day continues to entertain and excite with Tzee & the Africa Beyond Band and Kasbia Knights, leading into an evening line-up which is guaranteed to get people dancing.
Tickets priced £14 for Seth Lakeman, £10 for Lethal Bizzle, are available from the box office on 023 8065 2333 or online from www.eastleighmusicfestival.co.uk
