Colin Firth in conversation on May 4

HAMPSHIRE-BORN actor Colin Firth returns to his roots when he appears at Winchester's Theatre Royal for one night only in support of the mayor's charities.

Colin will be in conversation with John Smith, giving a unique insight into the man behind one of the best-loved roles in recent television history.

His screen success in the 1995 BBC production of Pride and Prejudice, as Mr Darcy opposite Jennifer Ehle's Elizabeth Bennett, and as a modern-day Mr Darcy in Bridget Jones's Diary, have made him one of the UK's best-known and most popular actors, placing him firmly in the affections of the nation.

His screen presence and classic British good looks have also endeared him to Hollywood, where he has played the quintessential Englishman in many films, most recently opposite Uma Thurman in The Accidental Husband.

Theatre Royal Winchester is delighted to present this rare opportunity to get to know more about Colin Firth, the man and the actor, before he heads off once again for the bright lights of Hollywood.

He will be on stage from 8pm on Sunday, May 4.

Tickets, costing £25, are available from the box office on 01962 840440.
