Dance fans catered for by new Light Lounge event

DANCE fans in Basingstoke have a reason to celebrate - the creation of Licked, a new fortnightly event.
Their next date for your diary is Friday, April 11 from 8pm-2pm, when resident DJs Stuart Marsh, DJ Gurney (Stuart Gurney-Smith) and DJ Nemesis (Matt Ulysses) will take to the decks in The Light Lounge.
The trio launched their house, electro and trance night with a sunglasses theme towards the end of March, aiming to provide a great night out. Its success has led to their establishing a fortnightly Friday night slot in The Light Lounge until August.
Stuart Marsh said: "At the beginning of 2007, I returned from university and realised that the dance music scene in Basingstoke was pretty much non-existent and very much underground.
"Rather than travel to locations such as Bournemouth, Reading and London, myself, DJ Gurney and DJ Nemesis decided to collaborate and bring a much needed sexy house, filthy electro and twisted trance night to music lovers in Basingstoke.
"Word of mouth has helped us go from strength to strength. We're just three guys who want to create a great night for dance music lovers and also enable local talent to have their chance at playing at our event."
Licked are also in the process of confirming big name DJs for future events, including Rory McCart, who'll perform on Friday April 11. Rory toured Ibiza last June and has also played at Godskitchen and Pacha.
Entrance is free before 9.30pm, £2 thereafter, and admission costs just £1 if you have one of Licked's distributed flyers. Licked would like to feature new contributors, so all demo CDs/tapes are very welcome.
