The BCOT course is designed for senior managers who have the authority and personal inspiration to develop organisational strategy into effective operational performance
The BCOT course is designed for senior managers who have the authority and personal inspiration to develop organisational strategy into effective operational performance

RUTH Spellman OBE, the newly-appointed chief executive of the Chartered Management Institute, intends to use her position to call for a greater focus on the high-level skills needed to build UK competitiveness and productivity.

She will also call on employers to take greater responsibility for the development of their management and leadership teams.

Currently, BCOT is enrolling for the CMI Executive Diploma in Management Level 7.

This one-year, work-related programme is designed for senior managers who have the authority and personal inspiration to develop organisational strategy into effective operational performance.

It is equally valuable to individuals aspiring to such a role.

The course has been designed with the busy manager very much in mind and focuses on developing the management and leadership role, managing performance, finance and resource management.

It also covers personnel planning, developing and implementing human resources plans and developing project specifications and objectives.

Managers with at least five years' middle-management experience will find the course useful, as will students progressing from the Diploma in Management.

The programme is set at a postgraduate level.

Qualifications at this level recognise highly-developed and complex levels of knowledge, which enable the development of in-depth and original responses to complicated and unpredictable problems and situations.

The Chartered Management Institute awards professional qualifications that demand high standards of knowledge, understanding, reasoning and judgement, coupled with a clarity of expression.

Eight assignments and one major work-based project are required, and one assignment will be assessed externally by the Institute.

BCOT offers an abundance of training for senior and middle managers. For more information, contact Marjorie Newton on 01256 306574 or e-mail marjorie.newton@bcot.ac.uk
