THERE’S no escaping it – these are tough times.
The rising cost of fuel and food, tumbling share prices and some gloomy predictions from prominent politicians and business leaders all make up an economic picture that is as gloomy as a July summer’s day.
Of course, it’s important to keep things in perspective. As The Gazette has said on many occasions, Basingstoke is a vibrant place and thankfully many businesses and a lot of the people who live and/or work here are still thriving.
Let’s not forget that this a town and borough where unemployment is still at a very low level and the quality of life is generally very good.
That said, we are all feeling the pinch in the current economic climate – and that’s why, today, The Gazette is launching the Beat The Crunch campaign.
The aim of the campaign is simple – to help our readers find ways of making their money and day-to-day resources go further.
Through Beat The Crunch, The Gazette will be aiming to bring you money-saving advice and tips – and we hope you will help us to spread the word.
We have set up a special Beat The Crunch forum on this website for you to leave, and share, information, and our campaign reporter Eleanor Stride is keen to hear from readers who have money-saving stories or tips that can be passed on to a wider audience through our newspapers and website.
We can all help each other to weather the economic hard times, so let’s work together to Beat The Crunch!
